Great words of encouragement from Dennis Rainey to men of any age...
Playwright Eugene O’Neill said “You do not build a marble tower out of a mixture of mud and manure.“ His words remind us that we would do well to begin now the process of becoming the man our family will someday look up to you.
I am comforted by the fact that a man’s character is shaped by his relationship with God. That where my hope lies. God hasn’t given up on me! He is still squeezing the mud and manure out of my life, building a strong, enduring marble tower instead. “Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your Name; and deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, for Your Name’s sake!” Psalm 79:9
Do you see the reason we can have any hope at all that we can become the kind of man who will one day deserve to be remembered fondly? It doesn’t depend on us. It doesn’t depend on our cleverness or our resources or even our dogged determination. No! In fact, God has staked His very Name and reputation of what He will do in us. For His own sake He will transform us into people who look increasingly like Jesus Christ. (For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers., Romans 8:29)
